Training Schedule and Syllabus

Newcastle Wado Kai operates a regular training schedule, with sessions held twice weekly to provide consistent practice and progression for all members.

 

Wednesday Evenings

Training takes place every Wednesday evening from 18:30 to 20:30, with the dojo opening at 18:15. This session offers a comprehensive opportunity for students to develop their skills, following a structured approach that accommodates karateka of all levels.

Saturday Mornings

On Saturday mornings, training is held from 10:30 to 12:00, with the dojo opening at 10:00. These sessions are designed to reinforce learning and provide additional practice, ensuring steady progress throughout the week.

Syllabus and Grading

The club adheres to the British Wado Kai syllabus, which is based on the teachings of Tatsuo Suzuki Hanshi’s Wado Ryu. This syllabus provides a clear pathway for karateka, guiding their development from beginner to advanced levels.

Grading begins at 9th Kyu, and the syllabus is structured to support all students as they progress through their Wado Ryu journey, helping them achieve their goals and advance through the ranks in a supportive environment.

 

All training sessions are suitable for all ages, from 8 to 105. And we tailor our training sessions for all ages, and ability’s.

Training Schedule and Syllabus

Wednesday Evening: 18:30–20:30

Our Wednesday evening training session is open to all students, regardless of grade. The session is structured to cater to both beginners and advanced practitioners.

 

- The first hour, from 18:30 to 19:30, is dedicated to beginners and lower Kyu grades, offering focused instruction and guidance to help them develop their skills. All students are welcome to remain for the following hour.

- From 19:30 to 20:30, the session transitions to training for senior grades, providing advanced techniques and practice opportunities tailored to their level.

Saturday Morning: 10:00–12:00

Saturday morning sessions are accessible to all karateka and are designed to follow the grading syllabus. These sessions incorporate a variety of training elements, including:

- Grading syllabus practice, ensuring students are prepared for their next assessment

- A mix of activities such as self-defence, partner work, and sparring, offering a comprehensive training experience

Wado Ryu Training Session Overview
 

Our training sessions encompass a wide range of aspects within the Wado Ryu style. Participants engage in various activities that address the essential elements of Wado Ryu, ensuring a well-rounded experience. Sessions are tailored to suit all ages and abilities, and include focused instruction for beginners as well as advanced techniques for senior grades. The syllabus covers grading preparation, self-defence, partner work, and sparring, enabling students to develop skills and progress through the ranks.
